Code Sample - Python
This sample is meant to demonstrate my ability to code in Python with the modules ArcPy, NumPy, and Pandas. Not demonstrated is my working familiarity with OGR and Gdal. The IDE Spyder was used. Clicking will open a Word document.
The code was written in order to assess deforestation in Nicaragua. It used the Hansen deforestation raster dataset and dates of titlement in order to begin to understand how titling affects the amount of deforestation that takes place in each territory. The datasets were large, which presented the largest challenge to the project that was overcome.
The intersection between GIS and human behavior is where my interests lie. Learning to code has enabled me to study this more effectively.
In the years since this analysis was done, I have expanded my skills in open source modules and primarily script with those.
